Description
Definition. The mean value of a transfer from exchange addresses. Mean Transfer Volume to Exchanges is the inflow counterpart, and Total Transfer Volume from Exchanges is the total counterpart.
Technical. The mean is the withdrawn volume divided by the number of withdrawals. Both include transfers to other exchanges and exclude transfers within the same exchange. For ETH tokens, this mean includes transfers between exchanges and thus the values differ from the ratio of Total Transfer Volume from Exchanges and Number of Transfers from Exchanges, where such transfers are excluded. For BTC, the mean is taken over non-zero outflows only. Exchange metrics are based on Glassnode's continually updated set of labeled exchange addresses, together with statistical and data-science methods that are refined over time. The series is therefore mutable: its established history is stable, but recent data points may revise as labels update. For methodology and limitations, see our article on exchange metrics and Exchange Data Transparency Notice.
