The amount of gas consumed by the Ethereum network by vanilla transactions. Vanilla transactions are pure ETH transfers between Externally Owned Accounts (EOAs), with no contracts being called.
If at least one of the EOAs participating in the transaction (the receiver, the sender, or both) belongs to an exchange, the amount will be represented in the exchange cohort.
Note that occasionally the value of the last datapoint can slightly change as some addresses initially transact as "vanilla" before their associated smart contract deployment is observed. This is the Point-in-Time (PiT) variant of Vanilla Transactions (Absolute). PiT metrics are strictly append-only and their history is immutable. The historic data does not necessarily reflect the best current knowledge, but the information at the time when a data point was first computed. PiT metrics are ideal candidates for applications in model backtesting and related quantitative purposes. Read our article on PiT metrics for more information.
