Definition. This chart tracks the change in the number of reachable Lightning Network nodes, split into node additions (green columns) and node removals (red columns), with the total node count shown as a line 🟠 and the BTC price (grey) for reference.

Technical. The columns are derived from the rolling 7-day change in the total node count, plotted daily:

• Node Additions = 7-day change in node count, when positive (green)
• Node Removals = 7-day change in node count, when negative (red)

Note that this is a net measure over the trailing week: a period in which nodes both joined and left prints only the balance of the two.

Interpretation. Node count changes track participation in the Lightning Network at the operator level. Sustained green regimes mark adoption waves — new operators spinning up routing or hobbyist nodes — and have historically clustered around periods of heightened Bitcoin attention. Red clusters accompany consolidation, when inactive or unreachable nodes drop off the network graph. Because reachability scanning has technical noise (nodes flapping between reachable and unreachable), the trend and regime of this measure is more informative than any single print, and the total node count line provides the cumulative context.
