The Realized Supply Density metric quantifies the concentration of supply located around the current spot price at ±5%, ±10%, and ±15%, respectively. A large concentration of supply around the current spot price suggests that fluctuations in price action can drastically affect the profitability of many investors, heightening the likelihood of market volatility. This is the Point-in-Time (PiT) variant of Realized Supply Density. PiT metrics are strictly append-only and their history is immutable. The historic data does not necessarily reflect the best current knowledge, but the information at the time when a data point was first computed. PiT metrics are ideal candidates for applications in model backtesting and related quantitative purposes. Read our article on PiT metrics for more information.
