Description

Definition. This chart presents the total ETH supply held by the Shrimp Cohort [Address Balance <1 ETH], and its 30-day net position change, alongside price. The traces are:

  • 🟠 Total balance held by Shrimp Cohort (line)
  • 🟧 30-day net position change of Shrimp Balance (columns)

Technical. The cohort balance aggregates all address balance bands below 1 ETH:

  • Shrimp Supply = Supply(<0.001) + Supply(0.001-0.01) + Supply(0.01-0.1) + Supply(0.1-1)
  • Net Position Change = diff(Shrimp Supply, 30)

This metric includes Externally Owned Addresses (EOAs) only (which includes exchanges, ETF products etc); smart contracts are excluded.

Interpretation. Shrimp represent the smallest, retail-scale holdings on the network. Their aggregate balance tends to grow steadily and largely independently of price, reflecting ongoing retail adoption and habitual accumulation; accelerations in the 30-day net position change have historically clustered around high-conviction periods such as capitulation lows and momentum-driven rallies. Because each address holds little, this cohort moves slowly — persistent negative net position change is therefore notable, signaling either genuine retail distribution or migration of balances upward into larger bands. Address-based cohorts also cannot distinguish one entity holding many small addresses.

Notes. Built from the address balance-band supply metrics, e.g. Supply Held by Addresses with Balance 0.1–1. The address count of the same cohort is charted in Shrimp Address Count; the next cohort up is Crab Net Position Change.
